Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice that involves inserting thin needles into specific points on the body. It’s based on the belief that energy, or “qi,” flows through pathways called meridians. By stimulating these points, acupuncture aims to balance the body’s energy, relieve pain, and promote overall wellness. People often seek acupuncture for issues like chronic pain, stress, and various health conditions.
Dry Needling is a form of acupuncture that does not focus on energy stagnation or the meridians but works directly with pain management. It targets the tendons and muscle bellies to target the specific region with pain, dysfunction, decreased range of motion, and other complaints for a short period. It is excellent for headaches, migraines, TMJ issues, knee pain, shoulder pain, and others. This therapy may use some meridian points, but it does not intend to utilize all of them. Also, this therapy may come with complimentary electrical stimulation and red light therapy if needed.
